Dairy producer Arla Foods Sweden chooses Ongoing Warehouse as WMS provider

Andreas Nordh, Instore solutions manager at Arla Foods

Arla Foods Sweden decided to manage their warehouse operation of commercial goods by themselves instead of outsourcing. Ongoing WMS was the warehouse management system best suited for them.

”Ongoing Warehouse met all our requirements of a WMS for our commercial warehouse and became the obvious choice as our WMS supplier. The system has all the functions we need, I especially like the picking batch and scanning functions.”, says Andreas Nordh, Instore solutions manager Arla Foods.

Arla Foods is a Swedish based company, most known for their milk production all around Sweden and Europe. Arla Foods was founded in the end of the 1900-century. They started producing and selling milk in Stockholm and has expanded ever since. Year 2000 they merged with Danish MA Foods and became, from former Arla, Arla Foods.
Arla Foods is completely owned by their farmers in Europe.

“Every Swede know about Arla Foods and their dairy products. It is great to have them as a customer. Ongoing WMS has always been developed in close contact with our customers which has given us an understanding about which functions different warehouses needs to operate effective. Combining the system with the integrations we have results in an incredibly efficient warehouse operation”, says Fredrik Einarsson, CEO Ongoing Warehouse

Ongoing WMS has integrations to the most used ERP-, transport-, web shops and return systems. Using the integrations makes much work in Ongoing WMS automated and the system will operate more efficient.

”Ongoing has integration to the transport system Unifaun that we use. All information about shipment transfers to Unifaun at the click of a button and we get information such as waybill and package numbers from Unifaun. This makes it very easy for us to manage our shipments”, continues Andreas Nordh.

Simplifying Logistics: Malmö Lastbilscentral's Success with Ongoing WMS

Malmö Lastbilscentral / Malmö LBC ) is a logistics company operating across three business areas: Logistics, Crane & Construction, and Third-Party Logistics (3PL). Primarily serving the Götaland region and parts of Svealand, Malmö LBC offers comprehensive logistics services to a wide range of customers. With the help of Ongoing WMS, they have been able to streamline their logistics operations, providing simplicity and order through the system's adaptability to various customer needs.

The Transition to Ongoing WMS

Per Andersson is a Business Developer at Malmö LBC and has played an important role in the company’s adoption of new technologies to improve operational efficiency. Reflecting on their logistics processes before implementing Ongoing WMS, Andersson explains that they relied heavily on spreadsheets or customer-specific systems. "We were working with Excel sheets or the customer’s own system," he says. These manual methods created limitations in terms of efficiency and the ability to easily track and manage goods, particularly when handling multiple customers simultaneously.

Today, Malmö Lastbilscentral uses Ongoing WMS to support a range of customer needs. "We use Ongoing for a variety of customers, handling everything from detailed scanning flows to simply managing pallet in- and outflows," Andersson explains. The flexibility of Ongoing WMS allows Malmö LBC to continuously onboard new customers as their business expands. They are also exploring ways to use Ongoing WMS to manage customs goods, demonstrating the system’s adaptability to evolving needs.

Key Benefits: Simplicity and Organization

One of the primary advantages Malmö LBC experiences with Ongoing WMS is the simplicity and order it brings to their operations. Andersson emphasizes, "The biggest benefit is the simplicity that gives us control and organization over the goods." With a clear and structured overview of their stock and processes, Malmö LBC operates more efficiently and can better manage goods flow for their clients.

Support from Ongoing and Innovative Solutions with Partners

Andersson also praises the strong working relationship with their Ongoing account manager, David Ådvall. "The support has been excellent. I feel we receive quick feedback, and David doesn’t drop any issues until we have a working solution," he says.

Ådvall, for his part, highlights an impressive installation at Malmö LBC: "They manage some pretty huge logistics flows, and one solution that I am impressed by is automatic scanning of pallets during inbound, using multiple scanning arcs. The driver of the truck that transports the pallets doesn’t even need to leave the truck cabin when unloading pallets from a larger lorry. He just drives through the scanning arcs and the pallets are registered in the system.". The integration between Ongoing WMS and the automation software for the scanning arcs was developed by a longstanding partner to Ongoing, Devies, showcasing how customers, Ongoing, and partners come up with innovative solutions.

Loaded for the Future

With Ongoing WMS now fully integrated into their logistics operations, Malmö LBC is well-positioned to scale and adapt to future customer needs. The system’s flexibility, combined with support from the Ongoing team, allows them to explore new areas such as customs handling, ensuring that Malmö LBC remains at the forefront of logistics.

Fotbutiken uses Ongoing WMS.

Fotbutiken Increased Their Efficiency by Several Hundred Percent with Ongoing WMS

The Swedish-based footcare company turned to Ongoing WMS in 2021 to meet their growing demands and improve efficiency.

Fotbutiken.se, a Sweden-based company specializing in footcare products, has since its founding in 2018 expanded their footprint across the Nordics and European countries while achieving an impressive turnover of over 100 million SEK. Today, Fotbutiken houses a dedicated team of about 15 employees and a mix of self-branded and retail products. A few years back, the company sought a system that could keep up with its growing demands, and in 2021, Ongoing WMS came to be their solution.

The Search for a Perfect Fit

Initially, the company grappled with the challenges of scaling its operations. "As the company grew, we soon felt that we needed a warehouse management system that could help us organize our products and streamline the processes of picking and packing," said Sameh Alhashish, Operations Manager at Fotbutiken. The search for the right WMS was thorough, involving evaluations of several systems and even an attempt to create a custom solution. However, it wasn't until they encountered Ongoing WMS that they found their perfect match. "When we after some time came in contact with Ongoing and got to try the system, we quickly felt that it was a system that fit our operations like a glove," Alhashish remarked.

The Impact of Efficiency & Streamlining Operations

With Ongoing WMS, Fotbutiken has been able to greatly upgrade their warehouse operations with remarkable improvements in efficiency. The system provides a comprehensive overview of stock levels and has significantly optimized the picking and packing processes. This boost in productivity is most evident in the picking process, where what used to be multiple trips across the warehouse to fulfill single orders has been transformed into a streamlined operation capable of handling multiple orders in one go. "Compared to before, when we had no system, we can now be several hundred percent more efficient," said Alhashish.

A Fruitful Collaboration

The partnership between Fotbutiken and Ongoing has been a cornerstone of their success. Alhashish praised the collaboration with their customer-responsible software engineer at Ongoing, Jakob Nilsson, noting, "Jakob is responsive to our problems and most things can be customized to our specific challenges. We are satisfied with Jakob and the rest of the team at Ongoing."

The success of the collaboration between Fotbutiken and Ongoing WMS is also reflected in the insights shared by Nilsson: "Their workflow is straightforward, making them the ideal e-commerce client for us since most tasks are plug-and-play in Ongoing WMS to get started." He further described the collaborative dynamic: "Fotbutiken are great to work with. They are clear with their requirements and expectations, while also providing quick feedback and constructive responses if something doesn't meet their satisfaction," Nilsson stated.

Embracing Innovation with Quickbutik

A significant milestone in Fotbutiken's quest for operational success was the integration between Onoing WMS and Quickbutik, originally developed and implemented by Jakob Nilsson. "Thanks to the integration between Quickbutik and Ongoing, we have simplified and streamlined our e-commerce management. It's like having everything under one roof, which saves both time and resources. A powerful duo for a smoother operation," enthuses Alhashish. The seamless syncing of articles and orders between Quickbutik and Ongoing WMS optimizes inventory management and minimizes manual efforts, offering real-time stock updates, automated order processing, and enhanced online store experiences.

In addition, Fotbutiken's parent company, Helsingborgs Internetverkstad AB, operates several Quickbutik webshops across Europe linked to the same Ongoing system, meaning inventory levels are consistent across all shops. "In Ongoing WMS, it's easy to set up multiple shops against the same system," Nilsson added.

Straight Footsteps Forward

Fotbutiken's adventure with Ongoing WMS highlights the importance of making an informed selection of WMS with support for seamless integration capabilities with partners. Thanks to the robust scalability of Ongoing WMS, Fotbutiken is striding forward confidently, assured that every footstep taken is on solid ground.

Blue Water Shipping (BWS) uses Ongoing WMS.

How Blue Water Shipping and Ongoing Collaborate to Drive Global Logistics Growth

Since implementing OngoingWMS at their Danish warehouse in 2020, Blue Water Shipping has rapidly expanded their operations globally. The adaptability and scalability of Ongoing WMS have allowed them to manage a wide variety of goods across multiple locations, from e-commerce products to large-scale project cargo.

Blue Water Shipping (BWS) is a global leader in logistics services in supply chain management and has long prioritized flexibility, efficiency, and customer satisfaction across its expansive operations. With more than 80 offices and 2,700 employees worldwide, BWS manages diverse logistical needs, ranging from e-commerce products to large-scale project cargo such as wind turbine components. To optimize their complex logistics operations, BWS relies on Ongoing WMS which has come to majorly impact how they manage their network of warehouses across the globe.

Ongoing WMS as a Globally Scalable Solution

The relationship between BWS and Ongoing began in 2020 with a single site in Denmark, as BWS was looking for a solution to replace their previous WMS. After initial testing and implementation, they found that Ongoing WMS could support almost all of their relevant scenarios and be customized to fit their business needs. Later on, the scalability of Ongoing WMS allowed BWS to expand its use globally. Daniel Mortensen<, WMS Frontend Specialist at BWS, explained the process:

“We started testing Ongoing WMS on one of our biggest warehouses in Denmark, implementing a few customers to make sure that the system would fulfill all our requirements. After a few months of testing, we could already see the benefit of the system and started a global roll-out. Soon after, we were able to tailor each location’s WMS to fit exactly their needs."

Today, Ongoing WMS is live in 20 BWS locations, including Europe, Australia, the US, Greenland, and Asia. This rapid expansion is a good example of the scalability of Ongoing WMS, which can be tailored to meet the specific needs of each BWS location, regardless of region.

Custom Solutions to BWS’s Needs

As BWS expanded globally, they worked closely with Ongoing to adapt the WMS to their diverse logistics requirements. Herman Jansson, Customer-Responsible Software Engineer at Ongoing and BWS' main contact, shared how he has implemented custom pallet item solutions for their unique needs:

“The use of pallet items is custom when receiving, moving, repacking, picking, packing and loading goods. There is now functionality to notify what is arriving at the warehouse and in which packages the goods are located. These packages can be received and handled as packages in the warehouse, still with information about their contents. When the goods are to be shipped, they can also be managed at the package level, ensuring easy picking, packing (in containers if necessary), and loading. With this structure, there is strong traceability of goods through their flow, and validation at many points to avoid mishandling.”

BWS operates with 80 offices and 2,700 employees worldwide.

Flexibility for Different Customer Needs

As a company that handles a wide variety of goods—from e-commerce products to complex project cargo—BWS required a flexible WMS that could be adapted to both simple and intricate customer demands. Ongoing WMS’ ability to cater to different levels of integration has proven highly important.

“Ongoing WMS allows us to support all our customers’ needs. We do full-scale integrations with global customers, allowing them to work in their own ERP system only and getting all live data directly from Ongoing WMS. Whenever something is received at the warehouse, their system is immediately updated with the information. Other customers need a quick and simple solution, and with the customer user interface in Ongoing WMS, this allows customers who don’t need or don’t want to invest in an integration to still have the same benefits,” Mortensen said.

By offering a highly customizable WMS, BWS can efficiently handle different types of goods, including retail, electronics, and even food, each of which comes with its own specific requirements.

Improving Warehouse Operations and Efficiency

Furthermore, Ongoing WMS has had a significant impact on warehouse efficiency, allowing BWS to optimize day-to-day operations. Mathias Lind, Logistics Manager at BWS, highlighted the operational benefits: “Ongoing WMS has greatly improved our warehouse operations, boosting efficiency and adaptability. With its effective features, our team can accurately manage inventory, optimize space, and streamline both inbound and outbound processes.”

Lind continued by adding: "The system's flexibility and quick adaptability allow us to swiftly respond to customer needs, whether catering to large-scale e-commerce or specialized project cargo, all while maintaining an intuitive interface for smooth operation." This efficiency and adaptability are crucial in meeting the ever-changing demands of BWS's customers, whether it’s ensuring smooth operations for large-scale logistics projects or optimizing day-to-day e-commerce flows.

From an IT perspective, the implementation of Ongoing WMS has been important in solving daily operational challenges. Mortensen explains how the IT team at BWS supports their logistics in close collaboration with Ongoing.

"We keep getting new requirements from the business to solve complex logistics needs, and in close dialogue with Ongoing, we find solutions to solve these. We keep evolving the platform to both optimize the business and add new warehouses to the platform around the world,” Mortensen explained. “The biggest benefit with Ongoing WMS I see is definitely ready-made integrations and well-documented APIs, flexibility, and strong support from Ongoing to solve our business needs," Mortensen added.

A Tenfold Increase in Order Efficiency

This partnership has led to impressive tangible results. Mortensen noted that since implementing Ongoing WMS in 2020, BWS now handles ten times more orders with only slight adjustments to their workforce:

"We have implemented a lot of operational saving solutions, including batch picking and vertical lift modules. We now handle 10 times more orders than we did before we implemented Ongoing WMS in 2020, and only adjusted our workforce slightly.” This data demonstrates how Ongoing WMS has not only increased the capacity of BWS’s operations but also done so efficiently, without the need for significant increases in staffing.

A Strong Partnership for the Future

The collaboration between BWS and Ongoing has been a key factor in the success of this WMS deployment. Mortensen praised the quality of service provided by Ongoing’s software engineers:

“We have benefited greatly from the excellent service from Ongoing's software engineers, who both understand the business and how to solve complex requirements from our customers. You always get a quick response with relevant help and information if you ask.”

Herman Jansson added his perspective on the successful collaboration: "Through a long and close collaboration, we have created a structure that allows us to easily and quickly connect more sites to Ongoing WMS, even those with more complex flows. These new sites can be up and running quickly with minimal involvement from Ongoing.”

As BWS continues to grow and evolve, their partnership with Ongoing ensures that they remain agile, efficient, and ready to tackle new challenges in the logistics industry. Jansson concluded with some words about the ever-evolving collaboration:

"We are not at the finish line yet because new cases and more sites are still being introduced to Ongoing WMS.”

Empowering growth with Ongoing WMS and Gung.

Successful Logistics Outsourcing and Seamless System Integration at Woodland Mills Europe AB

Woodland Mills Europe AB improved its distribution chain and sales processes by outsourcing logistics and integrating their business systems.

Woodland Mills Europe AB is a leading player in forestry equipment and faced the challenge of streamlining its distribution chain and sales processes for agents and resellers in Europe. To achieve this, they decided to outsource their logistics and warehousing to the third-party logistics provider (3PL) Storex which uses Ongoing WMS— Europe's leading web-based warehouse management system (WMS). Additionally, they chose to implement Gung, an innovative business platform for B2B and B2C sales, as well as the business system Fortnox for simple and smooth accounting.

Seamless Integration Possibilities Between Three Systems

Ongoing WMS is fully integrated with both Gung and Fortnox. With Gung's platform, Woodland Mills has seen a clear improvement in handling quotations and orders after growth imposed greater administrative demands. As Woodland's operations expanded, the need arose to extract the right data from Fortnox. Today, Gung complements Fortnox with data not supported by Fortnox but crucial for the business, such as bundled items, discount pricing, and product data.

Ongoing WMS retrieves data from both platforms and ensures efficient logistics management at their 3PL warehouse through a range of smart functions. Additionally, Ongoing WMS sends relevant data back to the systems; for example, when an order is processed, a signal is sent to Fortnox for invoicing. Another example is a tracking link sent to Woodland Mills' resellers using Gung, allowing them to see where shipments are in real-time. Each event in each system creates an automatic chain reaction of new events, saving users a significant amount of administrative work.

Improved Customer Satisfaction and More Efficient Sales Processes

"The collaboration with our 3PL Storex using Ongoing WMS has created a solid solution that guarantees smooth and transparent handling of our deliveries. Moreover, the integration between Ongoing WMS and Fortnox has worked seamlessly, which has significantly eased our accounting and financial reporting. The implementation of Gung has been invaluable for us. It has provided the efficiency and transparency we needed to elevate our sales processes to the next level. I couldn't be more satisfied with the results we've achieved", says Henrik Ängermark , Owner, Woodland Mills Europe AB.

Their distribution chain is now more effective thanks to their 3PL using Ongoing WMS. As a result of using Gung and Fortnox, Woodland Mills has experienced improved customer satisfaction and more efficient sales processes. They are now well-prepared to meet the growing needs of the European market and have thus strengthened their position as a leading player in their industry.

JTI Ventures Optimizes Warehouse Management and Expands Globally with Ongoing WMS and Sello

JTI Ventures, a global e-commerce retailer, increased their warehouse efficiency and expanded their global reach through Ongoing WMS and Sello.

JTI Ventures is a global ecommerce retailer based in Sweden, specializing in home and household items. They have made significant strides in optimizing their operations through strategic partnerships with Ongoing WMS and Sello. These collaborations have not only streamlined JTI Ventures' internal logistics but also expanded their reach across multiple global marketplaces, driving growth and efficiency.

A Reliable Partnership with Ongoing WMS

When JTI Ventures sought a warehouse management solution that could offer both stability and ease of use, they turned to Ongoing WMS. The decision was driven by the need for a system that could ensure reliable and efficient warehouse operations, which are essential for their business. “Ongoing offers a reliable and stable WMS,” says Jimmy Tieu, CEO of JTI Ventures. “The onboarding process went well. We were able to start making improvements in our warehouse operations immediately,” concludes Tieu.

One of the standout features of Ongoing WMS for JTI Ventures has been its ability to integrate seamlessly into their existing processes. The system’s reliability and user-friendliness have been particularly beneficial in enhancing the accuracy of their operations. “We no longer have any issues with picking errors since we now perform an extra scan at packing,” Tieu explains. “We also use Ongoing’s Excel import feature for goods reception and have dashboards with various KPIs that our staff can view.”

Ongoing's Excel import feature has also proven to be a valuable tool for JTI Ventures during goods receipt, enabling them to manage large volumes of inventory with ease. “Thanks to integrations, we have seamlessly aggregated orders from the different marketplaces we operate on,” adds Tieu.

Expanding Market Reach with Sello

While Ongoing WMS has been essential in streamlining JTI Ventures' internal operations, their partnership with Sello has played an important role in expanding their market presence. As early adopters of Sello’s system, JTI Ventures recognized the importance of being visible on multiple marketplaces simultaneously. Sello’s platform has allowed them to aggregate and manage their sales across various channels, ensuring that they can reach customers not only in the Nordics but also globally. “Sello has been quick to launch new marketplaces based on customer demand. We have been able to grow with Sello’s expansion,” says Tieu.

Sello's ability to adapt and grow alongside JTI Ventures and Ongoing WMS has created a strong and mutually beneficial relationship. “Both companies have helped us implement smart efficiencies, both in warehouse management and in aggregating orders to the different marketplaces we operate on,” Tieu notes.

A Collaborative Success

The collaboration between JTI Ventures, Ongoing, and Sello exemplifies how strategic partnerships can drive business success. With Ongoing WMS, JTI Ventures has achieved a stable and efficient warehouse management system that supports their logistics needs. Meanwhile, their partnership with Sello has opened doors to new markets and facilitated growth on a global scale.

“The collaboration has been working very well! Both companies have helped us achieve smart and efficient solutions in our warehouse management,” concludes Tieu.
