Blue Robot integrates with Ongoing WMS

Blue Robot ASRS

The Norwegian automated storage and retrieval system (ASRS) Blue Robot integrate with Ongoing WMS, using the Ongoing Automation API.

Blue Robot is a cube based state-of-the-art automated storage and retrieval system (ASRS) for small and medium sized businesses. Installations range from 1.000 bins up to 15.000 bins. The cube can be installed in existing warehouses and does not require anything except from a leveled floor, power, and internet to be installed.

“Using Blue Robot together with Ongoing WMS will be an addition to your existing workflow, not a replacement. The only processes that change are those directly linked to picking from and loading goods into the cube”, says Arnor Jonansson, CEO at Blue Robot.

The integration makes it possible for Blue Robot to retrieve articles and orders from Ongoing automation API and return the result of the picking process. Together, the two systems provide an efficient solution for loading and picking goods. Blue Robots artificial intelligence calculate optimized picking batches based on orders and priority.

“After receiving orders from Ongoing WMS, Blue Robot speeds up the picking process. Bins with goods are presented to the picker and the amount to be picked to each box is clearly shown. The picker takes items from the bin and places them in the correct box for packing and every action is confirmed by using a scanner. Once all order lines are picked from the bin, the bin is automatically returned to the cube and another bin is presented to the picker”, Arnor Jonansson continues.

The integration between Blue Robot and Ongoing WMS was completed about six months ago and it is now a part of the two companies’ standard offerings.

“Blue Robot develops a great automation solution for small and medium size business, and I believe this partnership will benefit us both, as well as many logistic reliant companies that need more automated workflows”, says Fredrik Einarsson, CEO at Ongoing Warehouse

Fredrik continues “It seems obvious that automation solutions will be used more commonly in warehouses in Scandinavia the following years. Therefore, we have put much effort into developing an automation API that makes it easy for automation solutions to integrate with Ongoing WMS”.

Blue Robot has made the integration by using the Ongoing Warehouse automation API.

“Integrating to Ongoing WMS has been a very positive experience. We are very impressed in how easy it has been to make the integration. Things that usually takes months or weeks only takes days or hours with Ongoing. It took us only three days to complete the integration, Arnor continues.

The integration is currently used by the Scandinavian logistics provider Nettvarehotellet who uses Ongoing WMS and Blue Robot.

“We have worked in Ongoing WMS for over two years, and it has helped us improve as a logistic provider in many ways. With Blue Robot we can fulfill as many orders as before, with reduced workforce. The solution is integrated to Ongoing WMS which makes our warehouse operations run very efficiently and automated”, Says Helge Lundeby.

Rebolet is Rescuing One Billion Items from Destruction with Scalable Software

Leading the re-commerce revolution, Rebolet aims to rescue one billion items from destruction, with Ongoing WMS powering their mission.

Re-commerce, or the process of reselling used goods, has become increasingly popular in recent years. The benefits of reducing waste and extending the lifespan of products are clear, and companies like rebolet are leading the way in making re-commerce accessible to retailers worldwide. Rebolet is currently on a mission to rescue one billion items from destruction, making re-commerce accessible to any online retailer. They achieve this by reselling used goods, thereby extending the lifespan of products, and reducing waste.

To achieve their goals, Rebolet bases their warehouse operations on Ongoing WMS, which enables them to process items quickly and efficiently. In a recent interview with Alessandro Bartsch, Head of Engineering at Rebolet, he explained how Ongoing WMS is the backbone of their operations, from receiving items to preparing and sending out orders. "Nearly everything is done by Ongoing," Bartsch said. This level of integration is essential for companies like Rebolet, where speed and efficiency are key to their success.

When Bartsch was asked why they initially chose Ongoing WMS as their preferred software for managing their warehouse operations, he explained that it was because they were one of the few companies that promised all the features and adjustments they needed. "We also like to work with European companies to support our local development. It was a win-win," he added.

Seamless collaboration delights both parties

The biggest benefit of using Ongoing WMS, according to Bartsch, is its flexibility. "In re-commerce, it was tough to find a system suiting our needs," he said. But with Ongoing WMS, Rebolet was able to customize the system to fit their unique requirements. "Together with Frida Eriksson [Rebolet's personal contact at Ongoing], we got to customize the system to meet our exact needs, and we continue to implement changes at a rapid pace." He further expressed how effortless it has been to work with Ongoing. "Communication with Ongoing is always a bliss. This is something we really appreciate."

Frida Eriksson also had positive things to say about their collaboration. "I think the collaboration between me and Alessandro Bartsch has been great from the start," she said. "He is always structured in his problem descriptions, which makes it easy for me as a developer to implement the desired logic into their different Ongoing workflows. You can tell he's a skilled developer himself by the way Rebolet has utilized Ongoing's different features – webhooks, API, and so on. Together we have set up their Ongoing system to something fitting their specific needs, still depending a lot on the standard functionality of Ongoing, even though they are not the 'standard' Ongoing customer."

shipcloud enhances the efficiency further

Another key factor in their success is the integration between Ongoing WMS and the shipping and return platform shipcloud GmbH, partners of Ongoing. "These two systems saved us both time and money," Bartsch said. "Although it's possible that we could have developed these systems ourselves, doing so would have delayed the launch of our service and resulted in significantly higher costs. Thus, by partnering with Ongoing and shipcloud, we were able to accelerate our growth and profitability while maintaining our focus on sustainability."

Finally, Bartsch shared how both Ongoing WMS and shipcloud are helping Rebolet reach their sustainability goals. "We are committed to minimizing our environmental impact and leaving behind as small a carbon footprint as possible. By choosing to work with Ongoing WMS and shipcloud, we believe that we have found strong allies in our efforts to achieve a carbon-neutral future and contribute to making the world a better place, one step at a time,” he concludes.

Vätterleden's warehouse

Vätterleden Logistik AB Significantly Improved their Customer Integration

Vätterleden Logistik AB, a third-party logistics (3PL) provider based in Landvetter, Sweden, has implemented Ongoing WMS to improve their customer integration capabilities.

With a client base of 25, Vätterleden recognized the need for a solution that could enhance their service offerings. According to the System Administrator Marcus Taube at Vätterleden Logistik AB, the company chose Ongoing WMS due to its flexibility and cloud-based infrastructure. "We previously worked in an older WMS. We realized that we needed a more flexible system because we have a large need to integrate more customers with different types of business systems, and that's where we saw that Ongoing WMS had these capabilities," Taube said. The cloud-based system was another factor that made Ongoing WMS the right choice, as the system is highly accessible on various devices. He particularly mentions that they have had great use of the possibility to create free-of-charge logins for their customers, for them to be able to check warehouse status and view orders in real-time.

A Client Support to be Proud of

Since starting the implementation in early 2020, Vätterleden now uses Ongoing WMS for all their warehouse operations including inbound and outbound deliveries, picking and packing orders, inventory management, and storage. "We use Ongoing to the fullest and continuously learn new functions that help us in our daily work," Taube said. And as already mentioned, customers also noticeably benefit from the system's ease of use and accessibility via the cloud, a clear contrast to their previous WMS solution that lacked those capabilities.

Taube continues by saying that the fast and responsive support provided by the Ongoing team was the biggest advantage of Ongoing WMS for Vätterleden. "The support is always available and very accommodating. If we need to add a feature or similar to the system, it is usually resolved quickly with just a phone call," he said. "There are solutions to everything and the Ongoing support is the best support we have ever encountered during our years in business."

Collaborative Success During the Implementation

Jesper Larsson, Vätterleden’s former personal software developer at Ongoing, and Leo Wahlgren, who later took over as their personal Ongoing contact, played vital roles in the success of the implementation. "When I took over as customer responsible for Vätterleden, the first thing I did was to come out and visit the warehouse to get a good understanding of their specific needs. Since then, we have made numerous developments and customizations together," Wahlgren said. He also added what a joy it has been to collaborate with the Vätterleden team. “Marcus Taube and Roger Johansson [CEO at Vätterleden] have been incredibly friendly and easy to work with throughout the implementation process.”

As Taube has been very pleased with the successful implementation of Ongoing WMS, he sees potential for further improvements to their warehouse operations in collaboration with Ongoing. "We are delighted with the flexibility and customer-friendly capabilities of Ongoing WMS, and we see it as a possible solution for our automation needs in the future, given its support for such integrations," Taube ended.

Kährs flooring

Kährs implemented Ongoing WMS for better integration, efficiency, and traceability

The leading global manufacturer and distributor of flooring, Kährs, has successfully implemented Ongoing WMS to enhance their warehouse management capabilities, streamlining their operations, and improving efficiency.

Kährs, a leading global manufacturer and distributor of flooring, has been in the business for over 160 years. With a long history of innovations that have shaped the entire global flooring industry, Kährs is a mark of quality and innovation. From inventing the first engineered wood floorboard to developing the first PVC-free resilient floor for public spaces, Kährs has led the way in developing sustainable and beautiful flooring solutions for both residential and commercial use. With nearly 70 countries using their products, Kährs is a market leader in Sweden and Finland, and have very strong positions in Norway, the UK, and Germany.

To enhance their warehouse management capabilities, Kährs implemented Ongoing WMS. In an interview with Christofher Nordström, Warehouse Team Leader at Kährs Nybro, Sweden, we learned about their experience with Ongoing WMS.

Before implementing Ongoing WMS, Kährs used two different systems: M3 for sales and a homemade web-based system for their warehouse management. While the web-based system allowed for a lot of customization, it was not scalable for their growing business needs. With Ongoing WMS, Kährs was able to improve their efficiency and integrate their sales and warehouse management systems.

Kährs has made several adjustments to Ongoing WMS to tailor it to their needs. "We work with big orders, sometimes up to 30-40 tons per truck, so we have adjusted Ongoing to work more in picking orders per truck than customer by customer," said Nordström. Kährs has also been able to streamline their operations, eliminating the need for paper orders and reducing the manual handling between sales and warehouse management. "E-commerce is growing rapidly, and we need to have the best possible handling of orders and goods, and Ongoing has given us a good platform for this," Nordström added.

Kährs has worked closely with Tianfu Yun, their customer-responsible software engineer at Ongoing, to optimize their use of Ongoing WMS. "We started with about 60-70 small changes in the system, so a lot has happened in a year. Tianfu has been of great help with quick and smooth solutions to our proposals," Nordström said.

With Ongoing WMS, Kährs has seen several benefits, including better integration between departments, greater traceability and overview, improved efficiency in truck driving, and easier goods reception and warehousing. "Integration with other departments and systems has been a great benefit for us, reducing the manual handling between sales and the warehouse as much as possible," Nordström said. "We now have a better overview of orders and can also go back in time and check what happened in certain situations."

Although there is still some work to be done to fine-tune the system, Kährs is confident that they will soon achieve their goal of greater efficiency and automation in their warehouse management. "Tianfu and Tommy Liljebjörn, [application expert at Kährs] are working on it, so we'll soon be there," Nordström added.

The Ongoing team is thrilled to hear that Ongoing WMS has been a valuable addition to Kährs' warehouse management capabilities, providing them with greater integration, efficiency, and traceability. With ongoing collaboration and adjustments, Kährs is well on their way to optimize their warehouse operations even further.

With offices in Poland, Romania, Turkey, and Gothenburg, the company excels in logistics and transportation to and from Eastern Europe and Asia.

Recently, the company implemented Ongoing's solutions in its Romanian warehouse to improve service quality and ensure fast and safe deliveries. Galvin Green golf clothing

Galvin Green did not compromise when choosing WMS

Galvin Green, a Swedish company specializing in high-quality golf clothing and accessories, has significantly improved its logistics operations through the implementation of Ongoing WMS.

Galvin Green is a premium golf clothing and accessories company headquartered in Växjö, Sweden. They specialize in high-quality products sold online and through golf clubs around the world. Just like their slogan states, "Never compromise", Galvin Green did not compromise when choosing a WMS for their warehouse operations.

In their Sweden-based warehouse, Ongoing WMS is mainly used for picking and packing as well as inbound and outbound deliveries. According to William Bolmö, the Warehouse Manager at Galvin Green, "We use scanning and hand computers for all types of picking and packing, which has reduced the manual work." This has resulted in the company increasing its efficiency significantly. Today, their logistics operations are almost paperless thanks to Ongoing WMS.

Bolmö describes the WMS as efficient, simple, and adaptable to Galvin Green's specific needs. The support team at Ongoing, he says, is very competent and solves all the challenges that arise.
