Söder Sportfiske: Fishing for Efficiency with Ongoing WMS

Söder Sportfiske / Sportfishtackleserves customers across several countries through e-commerce platforms like Sportfiskeprylar.se, Sportfishtackle.com, and Fishline.se. To streamline its operations, the company adopted Ongoing WMS.

Söder Sportfiske, one of the leading sport fishing companies in the Nordics, has enhanced its warehouse operations by integrating Ongoing Warehouse Management System (WMS). Known for its strong omnichannel presence, the company operates multiple e-commerce domains across Europe and a physical store, offering a wide range of sport fishing products. To meet the increasing demands of its business, Söder Sportfiske chose Ongoing WMS for its efficiency and scalability.

Söder Sportfiske's shares are traded on the Nasdaq First North Growth Market under the ticker symbol SODER.

A Forward-Thinking Solution

Söder Sportfiske serves customers across several countries through e-commerce platforms like Sportfiskeprylar.se, Sportfishtackle.com, and Fishline.se. To streamline its operations, the company adopted Ongoing WMS, a cloud-based system that integrates seamlessly with their existing platforms, including Specter AB and Askås.

"The integration process was relatively simple, and the system had all the features we were looking for," says Erik Nordén , CFO of Söder Sportfiske. "Ongoing’s excellent compatibility with other systems makes it a reliable choice for future growth."

How Ongoing WMS Supports Operations

At Söder Sportfiske, Ongoing WMS helps manage the entire e-commerce warehouse, as well as their click-and-collect store. It oversees inbound and outbound deliveries, organizes stock replenishment for over 40,000 SKUs, and enables a fully paperless workflow. The flexibility of the system has allowed for custom solutions, including:

  • Allocation of orders and creation of multi-pick tasks through custom-built picking queues.
  • Bulk processing of customs documentation for shipments to Norway and other export markets.
  • A dedicated workflow for the click-and-collect store, which integrates smoothly with Specter and nShift.

This adaptability has made a significant difference in their daily operations.

Efficiency Improvements Through Digital Transformation

Söder Sportfiske’s move from manually printed orders to digital handling has led to considerable efficiency gains. "Thanks to the various allocation options, digital picking, and better management of multiple storage locations, we’ve increased the revenue handled per labor hour in the warehouse by 65-85% over the last three years," explains Warehouse Manager Einar Eiriksson.

In January 2024, the company relocated from Årsta to a larger warehouse in Järfälla. The transition, which took only one week, was smooth due to Ongoing’s support. The system allowed them to transfer stock locations efficiently, scanning over 30,000 locations in just four days without needing to scan individual items.

A Reliable Partnership

Söder Sportfiske has been impressed with its collaboration with Ongoing. "The service has always been quick, and they consistently find solutions to meet our needs," says Nordén. "The team at Ongoing is highly skilled and helpful."

Ellinor Lundblad , Customer Responsible Software Engineer at Ongoing, shares her thoughts on the ongoing collaboration:

"Söder Sportfiske is always pleasant and easy to work with. They are constantly looking to work better and more efficiently in the warehouse, bring good ideas, and are open to our thoughts and solution suggestions. The move of their main warehouse earlier this year went very smoothly with a well-thought-out plan on their part and good collaboration with us."

Ongoing WMS has helped Söder Sportfiske modernize its operations, creating a solid foundation for continued growth. With its flexibility and ease of use, the system ensures the company can continue serving sport fishing enthusiasts across the Nordics and Europe.

Ongoing has received the Di Gasell 2024 award.

Ongoing Earns its 6th Di Gasell Award

Ongoing has been awarded the Di Gasell Award for 2024, marking the sixth time to receive this recognition.

We have succeeded ourselves once again as Ongoing recently was awarded the Di Gasell Award for 2024. That marks the sixth time we have received this recognition since Ongoing’s founding in 2008. We have been honored with the award in 2014, 2018, 2019, 2020, and 2023.

For those unfamiliar with the Di Gasell Award, it is presented annually by the Swedish financial newspaper Dagens Industri and recognizes Sweden's fastest-growing and most financially stable companies. With only a select number of businesses earning this distinction each year, it is a remarkable achievement, and one we are proud to have accomplished for the sixth time!

Thank you to everyone who has supported us along the way—this award is as much yours as it is ours.

Ottosson Färgmakeri uses Ongoing WMS.

Ottosson Färgmakeri's Success Story: "Ongoing WMS is the Heart of our Operations"

Ottosson Färgmakeri, the world's largest linseed oil paint manufacturer, partnered with Ongoing WMS to streamline their operations and support their growing global presence.

Ottosson Färgmakeri is a Swedish company that has grown since 1989 to become the world's largest manufacturer of linseed oil paint. With a customer base spanning the globe and 30% of its sales exported internationally, the company sought a robust Warehouse Management System (WMS) to streamline operations and support its expanding business. Their partnership with Ongoing has significantly impacted how they manage their production and distribution processes.

Rapid Implementation of their new WMS

Ottosson Färgmakeri needed a WMS that could seamlessly integrate with multiple existing systems, including their ERP system (Fortnox) , transport management system (nShift) , and two Woo

"We needed multiple integrations, including with our ERP system, transport management system, and two webshops via WooCommerce. Most WMS solutions we looked at had difficulty providing this off the shelf," says Marcus Björk, Logistics Manager at Ottosson Färgmakeri.

Ongoing WMS emerged as the ideal solution. With ready-made integrations for all the systems Ottosson Färgmakeri used, they were able to get started quickly. "Ongoing already had ready-made integrations for all the systems we used, allowing us to get started within just a week," Marcus adds.

Tailored Solutions to Ottosson Färgmakeri's Needs

The partnership between Ottosson Färgmakeri and Ongoing has been characterized by a collaborative approach to meet specific business needs without increasing system complexity. Martin Hernqvist, Customer Responsible Software Engineer at Ongoing and the main contact for Ottosson Färgmakeri, highlights how they have tailored the system:

"Ottosson Färgmakeri was one of my first customers when they signed up almost four years ago (on my birthday, no less), and it has been a pleasure to work with them since then. They are always adept at identifying solutions based on their needs and understanding what different systems can offer. This approach has allowed us to integrate functionalities for store management and production information into Ongoing WMS, beyond standard warehouse management and typical integrations with sales channels, all without increasing the system's complexity."

Streamlining Operations

By integrating Ongoing WMS into their operations, Ottosson Färgmakeri has centralized their order management, production planning, and inventory control. All orders—whether from their webshops or manually created in Fortnox—are fed into Ongoing WMS. The system also manages purchase orders and production planning for their factory.

"Ongoing is the heart of our operations. All orders are fed into Ongoing WMS, both from our webshops and those created manually in Fortnox. We also manage purchase orders and production planning for our factory within the system. All inventory, statistics, and follow-up are handled in Ongoing WMS," Marcus notes.

User-Friendly Interface Boosts Efficiency

One of the significant advantages of Ongoing WMS is its user-friendly interface, which has allowed staff members—even those unfamiliar with advanced computer systems—to adapt quickly.

"It’s incredibly quick to get started—for us, it took one week from the decision to full operation. The fact that the system is pleasant, fast, and easy to understand also means that even users who aren’t familiar with computers or systems like WMS can quickly get the hang of it," Marcus emphasizes.

This ease of use has improved efficiency and productivity across the company's operations.

Exceptional Collaboration and Support

The successful implementation and use of Ongoing WMS have been supported by exceptional collaboration between the two companies. Marcus praises the quality of service provided by Martin Hernqvist and the Ongoing team: "Very good. Martin Hernqvist is a hero who is always there to help. Things get resolved quickly, often with just a phone call or a quick email."

Martin reflects on the strong partnership: "Through a long and close collaboration, we have created a structure that allows us to easily and quickly adapt the system to Ottosson Färgmakeri's needs, even incorporating functionalities for store management and production information without increasing complexity."

Laying the Foundation for Future Growth

The implementation of Ongoing WMS has not only met the immediate needs of Ottosson Färgmakeri but has also laid a strong foundation for future growth. The company is now better positioned to handle increasing demand and expand its global reach.

"We have been able to optimize our operations and improve efficiency, which is crucial as we continue to grow and serve customers worldwide," Marcus concludes.

Malmö LBC uses Ongoing WMS.

Simplifying Logistics: Malmö Lastbilscentral's Success with Ongoing WMS

Malmö Lastbilscentral / Malmö LBC ) is a logistics company operating across three business areas: Logistics, Crane & Construction, and Third-Party Logistics (3PL). Primarily serving the Götaland region and parts of Svealand, Malmö LBC offers comprehensive logistics services to a wide range of customers. With the help of Ongoing WMS, they have been able to streamline their logistics operations, providing simplicity and order through the system's adaptability to various customer needs.

The Transition to Ongoing WMS

Per Andersson is a Business Developer at Malmö LBC and has played an important role in the company’s adoption of new technologies to improve operational efficiency. Reflecting on their logistics processes before implementing Ongoing WMS, Andersson explains that they relied heavily on spreadsheets or customer-specific systems. "We were working with Excel sheets or the customer’s own system," he says. These manual methods created limitations in terms of efficiency and the ability to easily track and manage goods, particularly when handling multiple customers simultaneously.

Today, Malmö Lastbilscentral uses Ongoing WMS to support a range of customer needs. "We use Ongoing for a variety of customers, handling everything from detailed scanning flows to simply managing pallet in- and outflows," Andersson explains. The flexibility of Ongoing WMS allows Malmö LBC to continuously onboard new customers as their business expands. They are also exploring ways to use Ongoing WMS to manage customs goods, demonstrating the system’s adaptability to evolving needs.

Key Benefits: Simplicity and Organization

One of the primary advantages Malmö LBC experiences with Ongoing WMS is the simplicity and order it brings to their operations. Andersson emphasizes, "The biggest benefit is the simplicity that gives us control and organization over the goods." With a clear and structured overview of their stock and processes, Malmö LBC operates more efficiently and can better manage goods flow for their clients.

Support from Ongoing and Innovative Solutions with Partners

Andersson also praises the strong working relationship with their Ongoing account manager, David Ådvall. "The support has been excellent. I feel we receive quick feedback, and David doesn’t drop any issues until we have a working solution," he says.

Ådvall, for his part, highlights an impressive installation at Malmö LBC: "They manage some pretty huge logistics flows, and one solution that I am impressed by is automatic scanning of pallets during inbound, using multiple scanning arcs. The driver of the truck that transports the pallets doesn’t even need to leave the truck cabin when unloading pallets from a larger lorry. He just drives through the scanning arcs and the pallets are registered in the system.". The integration between Ongoing WMS and the automation software for the scanning arcs was developed by a longstanding partner to Ongoing, Devies, showcasing how customers, Ongoing, and partners come up with innovative solutions.

Loaded for the Future

With Ongoing WMS now fully integrated into their logistics operations, Malmö LBC is well-positioned to scale and adapt to future customer needs. The system’s flexibility, combined with support from the Ongoing team, allows them to explore new areas such as customs handling, ensuring that Malmö LBC remains at the forefront of logistics.
