Linda Wretman Becomes Ongoing’s First CFO
Ongoing is now taking the next step in its global expansion by recruiting its first Chief Financial Officer, Linda Wretman.
Axla Logistics is a subsidiary of Åland Post with nearly three decades of expertise in e-commerce logistics and has significantly enhanced its warehouse operations by adopting Ongoing WMS. Operating from their newly built BREEAM Outstanding-certified fulfillment center in Tuusula, Finland, Axla covers a comprehensive range of logistics services, including receiving, storing, picking, packing, shipping, return handling, and line-haul services.
Viktor Hollsten, Operations Director at Axla Logistics, explains why their choice ended up on Ongoing WMS: "We were in need of a modern warehouse management system suited for use in the entire value chain from end-to-end. We ultimately chose Ongoing because of its simplicity and ease of use, extensive integration possibilities, and because it is easy to modify and develop according to our needs." Ongoing WMS has since been seamlessly integrated into Axla's daily operations, enhancing processes such as receiving, picking, packing, returns handling, storage management, and line-haul coordination. Customers directly benefit from the system as well, since it enables them to place purchase orders and monitor real-time stock levels efficiently, enhancing customer interaction and transparency.
The WMS integrates seamlessly with Axla’s existing systems, including nShift, Posti Smartship, Element Logic (eManager), Shopify, PrestaShop, and Microsoft Dynamics NAV , making it a highly versatile addition to Axla’s operations and ensuring smooth daily workflows.
Hollsten also praises the available information and guides provided by Ongoing. "The documentation and videos provided by Ongoing are very helpful and give users significant insight into how to use the system," Hollsten concludes. "You are usually able to find answers through the documentation center for most basic issues or questions."
Switching to Ongoing WMS has delivered tangible results. "Ongoing WMS has brought us several measurable improvements," Hollsten highlights. "For example, we reduced paper usage by approximately 0.25 tons annually, thanks to the system’s full support for PDAs and wearables—completely removing the need for printed picklists." Administrative efficiency has also significantly improved, with a reported reduction of 10–15% in administrative workload, credited to Ongoing's 'Automated Processes' functionality. This feature enables Axla to customize picking list generation tailored specifically to each customer's unique requirements, streamlining operations. Furthermore, Axla's packing efficiency has notably increased. "The customizable packing function within the scanning module has helped us save around 20,000 minutes annually during the packing phase—a significant boost," adds Hollsten.
Axla Logistics greatly values the responsive and proactive collaboration with Ongoing. "When we have questions, issues, or development ideas, we always swiftly receive several different alternative solutions from which we can choose the option that fits our needs best," Hollsten explains. The onboarding process was another positive experience for Axla Logistics. Hollsten notes, "The onboarding process was smooth and aligned well with our expectations, especially with the strong support provided by our dedicated Software Engineer Tobias Gabrielii at Ongoing. Their availability and responsiveness ensured that any issues were quickly resolved."
Gabrielii also comments on the great collaboration: "Axla has been an excellent partner over the past two years. They are always open to discussions about their requests, ranging from Autostore workflow to warehouse optimization and customer-specific adaptations. However, they often test and implement many of the system modifications independently, without any involvement from Ongoing."
Through its adoption of Ongoing WMS, Axla Logistics has successfully optimized warehouse operations, improved sustainability, and boosted overall efficiency. The system’s flexibility, extensive integration capabilities, and praised support have empowered Axla to confidently meet evolving customer demands. As Axla continues to innovate and grow, Ongoing WMS remains a robust partner in driving their operational performance forward.
