Magnihill, a Swedish company specializing in cultivating, producing, sourcing, and packaging frozen vegetables, berries, and root crops, has successfully implemented Ongoing WMS to enhance its logistics and production processes. With a strong focus on Swedish and organic products, Magnihill needed a flexible and reliable system to manage its operations efficiently.

Ongoing WMS: A Natural Choice

When Magnihill was to select a WMS for its production and distribution, the company was already familiar with Ongoing WMS through its 3PL warehouses, which had been using the system for some time already. Impressed by its simplicity and adaptability, Magnihill saw Ongoing as a natural choice. “It was an obvious choice for us to consider Ongoing when we decided to switch WMS,” says Jonas Ryd, Logistics Manager at Magnihill.

Ongoing WMS is used at Magnihill for traditional warehouse management functions such as warehousing, picking, and handling inbound and outbound deliveries. However, what sets their implementation apart is the integration of Ongoing’s production module into their production lines. By connecting Ongoing WMS to their ERP system, Winbas, Magnihill has created a seamless flow for managing customer and purchase orders. Additionally, their planning software developed by FOPTEC AB, is also linked to Ongoing for production planning, while their 3PL warehouses’ Ongoing systems are integrated with their ERP system as well.

Seamless System Integrations for Smarter Operations

The adoption of Ongoing WMS has significantly streamlined Magnihill’s operations. “We have eliminated paperwork and digitized numerous tasks,” says Ryd. “We now have significantly better opportunities to extract data and statistics to follow up on our operations.” By improving access to real-time data, Magnihill can better track efficiency and optimize processes.

Additionally, Ongoing partner IT-Stöd Skaraborg AB played a crucial role in integrating Magnihill’s ERP system with Ongoing WMS. Given that Magnihill operates across two different 3PL warehouses using separate Ongoing systems, the integration had to connect with three different WMS systems simultaneously.

Seamless Onboarding and Support

According to Ryd, the onboarding process was smooth, with the company quickly getting up and running with both the WMS and production module. “One of our 3PL warehouses said they hardly even noticed we had changed systems.” The collaboration with Ongoing has also been highly positive, with responsive and solution-oriented support. “Our software engineer at Ongoing has been a key player in successfully implementing the system change.”

Måns Lerjefors, Customer-Responsible Software Engineer at Ongoing, highlights the uniqueness of the Magnihill case. “We have done a lot of adjustments to fit their production flows, as well as integrating one of Magnihill’s production systems to Ongoing,” he explains. “This allows Magnihill to fetch SSCC numbers created in Ongoing WMS and calculate the total food waste based on produced and consumed materials.”

A Digital Future for Magnihill

With Ongoing WMS, Magnihill has successfully transitioned to a more digital and data-driven approach, improving efficiency, traceability, and sustainability in their production and logistics. By leveraging flexible WMS technology and strong collaboration with Ongoing, the company continues to optimize its processes and enhance operational performance.
