SIA Glass, a family-owned company in Slöinge with a heritage dating back to 1569, produces premium ice cream using high-quality, locally sourced ingredients from Swedish farms. To streamline logistics and maintain efficiency, they rely on the user-friendly and customizable Ongoing WMS, ensuring seamless operations and strong support for their commitment to quality and sustainability.
Nestled in the picturesque countryside of Slöinge, Halland, SIA Glass AB is a family-owned ice cream company with a rich history and deep ties to Swedish agriculture. As part of Bertegruppen AB - Sweden’s oldest family-owned company, established in 1569 - SIA Glass continues a legacy of tradition and sustainability. Using locally sourced, high-quality ingredients such as fresh cream, milk, and berries, they craft premium ice cream enjoyed by many. Supporting their storage and distribution processes is Ongoing WMS, an integral part of their logistics operations.
When SIA Glass decided to take over the operations of their cold storage from their 3PL partner, Wohlins Fryshus Logistik AB, they made the seamless choice to continue using Ongoing WMS—already in place at the facility. "We took over the Ongoing WMS from our 3PL partner Wohlins, who operated the cold storage before we took it over ourselves. Therefore, continuing with Ongoing WMS was natural since our staff had already worked with the system and were satisfied with its setup," explains Johan Nordh, Team Leader for Cold Storage.
The transition demonstrated the reliability of Ongoing WMS and the support provided by the Ongoing team. The shift was completed in just one evening despite the complexities of transferring ownership and management of a cold storage operation. "We received excellent support from Ongoing in making this transition in one evening. The next day we were up and running again, and this time under our own management," Nordh recalls.
SIA Glass relies on Ongoing WMS to optimize their cold storage operations across multiple dimensions:
These processes ensure that their inventory management and business processes remain interconnected and efficient.
The intuitive design of Ongoing WMS has proven to be a significant asset for SIA Glass, making it accessible for both experienced team members and new hires. "The primary advantage is that the system is user-friendly and easy to grasp for new users. Another significant benefit is the great potential for customized solutions," says Nordh.
The system's flexibility has allowed SIA Glass to tailor it to their unique requirements, further boosting efficiency and supporting their mission of delivering high-quality products.
The partnership between SIA Glass and Ongoing WMS has been characterized by effective communication and reliable support. Over the years, SIA Glass has worked with several customer-responsible software engineers at Ongoing, all of whom have been praised for their professionalism. "It has worked very well with our software engineers. We've had 3-4 different ones over the years, and all have been very accommodating," Nordh shares.
For SIA Glass, Ongoing WMS has been the essential logistics solution that aligns with their commitment to quality, sustainability, and efficiency. As they continue crafting premium Swedish ice cream, their use of robust technology like Ongoing WMS ensures their legacy remains strong and enduring.
